It is interesting to realize that the iPhone 7, released in 2016, is on the line and has real chances of receiving the iOS 16. Although this is already a long way off, this device can continue to enjoy the updates for another year if the predictions are correct.
When should it be released?
Apple presents the new software at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), an annual event that normally takes place in June. Day 1 is open to the public, including the press. There, the new versions of iOS, iPad, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, besides other announcements, such as the Mac Pro, in the year 2019, are transmitted in a live broadcast.
What will be the updates?
The main one is the update and the improvement of widgets, which were also introduced with iOS 14. According to rumors, the new version will present interactive widgets. In this way, the user can interact with the functionality, optimizing the use of the smartphone. This feature could be used for volume control, or even to switch functions of the device, for example.
It is also very likely that iOS 15 will bring a much greater customization capability to the iPhone. Initially, users will have the ability to change apps, like Safari, to alternative ones. Besides, with the new update, the system will allow users to change the default music platform.
The smartphone’s lock screen may also have some updates. An example of this is the widgets accessible with the phone locked. Although not exactly a new feature since, so far, it is available on the home screen, it is an interesting newness, adding to the usability of the iPhone.
Recent rumors now point to the strong possibility that Apple will show a Control Center with a washed face, marked by an aesthetic remodeling, inspired by macOS Big Sur. This option is related to the fact that shortcuts and widgets are optional and not present by default, leaving the user with the final decision on their usefulness.
