US Presidential Candidate Donald Trump is Accepting Bitcoin Donations

Former US President Donald Trump made good his promise by announcing acceptance of crypto donations through the official website. The Republican candidate seeking a second term in the White House confirmed accepting crypto donations.

A press release on Tuesday, May 21, revealed that Trump accepted crypto donations via a feature powered by US-based crypto exchange Coinbase.

Trump’s addition of a digital asset fundraising campaign is a groundbreaking move for a leading party presidential nominee who embraced crypto for donations.

A webpage update indicated that Trump accepts donations in leading cryptos, including Dogecoin, Solana, Ethereum, and Bitcoin.

Although other presidential candidates accept crypto donations, they hardly match the breadth of digital assets the Trump campaign accepts. The list of crypto accepted extends beyond the common tokens to feature meme coins like Shiba Inu and Ripple’s XRP.

During an event hosted by his NFT holders, Trump disclosed his affinity for crypto. The former president had previously appeared in criticism of Bitcoin.

Trump profiled Bitcoin in 2021 that it seemed to be a scam and lamented that it appeared to be another currency contesting for supremacy realized by the greenback.

Since launching the Trump Trading Cards in 2022 as Polygon-based nonfungible tokens (NFTs), Trump appears to be progressively affiliating with digital assets.

The pro-crypto announcements by Donald Trump began during the event held at Mar-a-Lago for the NFT holders who incurred thousands of dollars to participate.

The Republican presidential nominee offers vocalized support for crypto, likely influencing the crypto asset market.  Crypto analysts acknowledge that the political pressure for the Securities and Exchange Commission is rising coincidentally with the upgraded likelihood of spot Ethereum ETF approval later this month.

The press release hailed President Donald Trump for reducing regulation and supporting the innovative pursuits of financial technology. It added that Trump contrasts the anti-crypto policy by Democrats and Biden, led by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, profiled as the president’s surrogate.

The Trump press release tasked the government with the obligation to determine how the US leads the world.

Trump Embracing Crypto Pumps Doland Tremp Price

The procrypto embrace by Trump saw a Solana-based meme coin Doland Tremp whose developers drew inspiration from the former president sustained its weekly gains. By Tuesday evening, May 21, the Doland Tremp (TREMP) realized a 150% rally to exchange hands at $1.30 in the past week. However, the TREMP has slipped 5.4% to $1.18 in the past 24 hours, as per CoinGecko.

Completing the requirements on Trump’s website directs the donor to the Coinbase Commerce page. Users can choose from Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, or other self-custodial wallets.

Trump’s embrace of crypto appears to materialize with Messari chief Ryan Selkis acknowledging that crypto skeptics within Biden’s administration, particularly Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), are likely to feel the pressure.

Messari’s chief, Selkis, in support of Trump, addressed the audience during Trump’s Mar-a-Lago event.
