Ubisoft Partners with Immutable to Develop a Crypto ‘Gaming Experience’

Immutable and Ubisoft are creating a new blockchain gaming project to provide ‘digital ownership.’ This is what is known so far.

Ubisoft, the publisher of Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin’s Creed, intends to develop a ‘Web3 gaming experience’ with Immutable, a crypto infrastructure and gaming firm. According to a statement, both Immutable and Ubisoft are developing a novel gaming experience to unlock Web3’s potential further.’

Integrating Crypto Rewards to Redefine Gaming Experience

Immutable is the company behind the Immutable X layer-2 blockchain, which games such as Guild of Guardians and God Unchained also utilize to incorporate their nonfungible tokens (NFTs). 

In a statement, Nicolas Pouard, the vice president of Ubisoft Strategic Innovation Lab and leader of Ubisoft’s blockchain initiatives, claimed he is certain that immutable provides smooth incorporations for game developers to include crypto elements in their projects. 

In the announcement, Pouard said they are happy to collaborate with them and are eager to bring that fluidness level within a fully developed game. As such, players are only required to focus on the experience’s fun. 

Players to Reap Digital Ownership 

In a statement, James Fergusson, Immutable cofounder and chief executive officer, said that the two firms’ collaboration would provide ‘digital ownership’ to players. 

Ferguson said they intend to bear the ecosystem’s full weight to guarantee the collaboration’s success. He also said they are sure about creating a fresh experience that players will like. The statement provides some details concerning what is being developed. 

In this case, the project could be an Immutable incorporation into a current Ubisoft game in development, a new blockchain game, or a form of gamified experience such as a ‘collect to earn’ initiative that involves a simple gaming interface providing players a chance to earn nonfungible tokens. 

When questioned for additional information concerning what is being developed, an Immutable spokesperson revealed that ‘additional information’ will be disclosed.

Ubisoft NFTs Integrated in Rabbids Game

Ubisoft’s secretive project is still far from the publisher’s initial stage in NFTs and NFT gaming. The game publishing firm unveiled nonfungible tokens influenced by its original Rabbids game in The Sandbox and on Reddit. 

Besides, in 2021, it unveiled free Tezos nonfungible tokens for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. In April last year, it ceased backing its Ghost Recon NFTs, claiming it intended to bring the technology to other games.

In July this year, Ubisoft revealed it was creating Champions Tactics, a tactical RPG, on the Oasys blockchain. Also, it became Cronos blockchain’s network validator.
